After the year that’s been, it’s time for the good news to come rolling in. This time it’s landed at the Children’s Advocacy Center Of Collin County (CACCC). Credit Union Of Texas (CUTX) has just provided a $1.5M donation to complete CACCC’s $10M capital campaign for the “construction of an additional 44,000-square-foot center facility in McKinney that will specifically focus on supplying services” for Collin County residents.
According to CUTX CEO Eric Pointer, “Credit Union of Texas measures our success by the positive impact we have on the communities we serve. Our financial commitment to Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County will make a difference in the wellbeing of the most vulnerable among us.”
In addition to the financial boost, CUTX also supports CACCC with “regular team member volunteer hours for facility maintenance, cleaning of therapy and visitation rooms, as well as participation in the Center’s annual back-to-school fair and its Community Education initiative.”
Thanks to this donation, the construction on the new facility will get underway this summer, with completion projected for fall 2022. The new center “will house more than 200 professionals, including law enforcement from McKinney and Allen police departments, the Collin County Sheriff’s Offices and representatives from Texas Child Protective Services, as well as forensic interviewers, family advocates and therapeutic counselors.”
CACCC CEO Lynn McLean explained, “Strong partners like Credit Union of Texas that are willing to provide both financial and volunteer resources are vital to our sustainability and our success. Credit Union of Texas’ significant donation helped us complete our capital campaign, allowing us to plan for the future and secure our long-term ability to support Collin County’s dynamic, growth-related needs.”
Collin County’s over-the-top growth in recent years has been a double-edged sword. While its population is projected to triple to a whopping 3.8M residents by 2050, CACCC is preparing for a dramatic increase of clients. While it served nearly 4,000 clients in 2019, it is projecting that its services will be needed to accommodate 10,000 clients in the years to come.
